Deep Fried Burrata with Spicy Tomato Sauce

One third of consumers are adventurous eaters looking for new flavors and about half of consumers like spicy food.* This recipe takes the creaminess of deep fried Grande Burrata and pairs it with a spicy tomato sauce, leaving your taste buds wanting more.

Deep Fried Burrata with Spicy Tomato Sauce Yield: One appetizer
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 large Eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup Bread crumbs
  • 1 cup Spicy Marinara (see recipe)
  • 1 Grande Burrata ball, frozen for 30 minutes
  • 1 tbsp. Grande Grated Parmesan
  • Italian parsley, to garnish

Deep Fried Burrata with Spicy Tomato Sauce
  1. Create a breading station by placing flour, eggs, and bread crumbs into individual bowls.
  2. Remove Burrata from freezer and dredge in flour, coat with eggs, roll into bread crumbs, then roll into eggs again, and coat with breadcrumbs.
  3. In a deep fryer preheated to 350°F, gently place breaded Burrata into oil and fry until golden brown. Approximately 2 to 3 minutes
  4. On plate, place 1 cup marinara sauce to coat bottom of plate and place fried Burrata onto center of plate. Garnish with parmesan and chopped parsley.

Spicy Marinara Yield: Two servings
  • 28 oz. can Italian whole peeled tomatoes
  • 1 clove Fresh garlic, crushed
  • 1 tsp. Sea salt
  • 1 tsp. Crushed red pepper
  • 2 tbsp. Extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 leaves Fresh basil, chopped

Directions

Spicy Marinara
  1. Empty can of tomatoes into a bowl. Using your hands, crush tomatoes until chunky.
  2. In a sauté pan, heat olive oil and add garlic, cook until golden brown, but not burnt, add tomatoes and bring to a boil. Season with salt, crushed red pepper and basil.
  3. Reduce to 2 cups and cool.
